Volume 1

The Bunny Prince Paints A Picture
(and meets the Duchess of Duck)

The Bunny Prince sets out to paint a beautiful picture, but can't think of anything to paint. He wanders around the castle grounds asking various local characters what he should paint. He gets motherly advice from the Queen Bunny, an idea from his food-loving friend the Hog Dog and even a suggestion from the sophisticated Hat Cat. But everyone's advice seems to suit only themselves. As he walks, pondering his situation, he finds a beautiful rainbow-colored feather. Soon a beautiful (as well as older and wiser) duckling appears and claims the feather as her own. It obviously matches her wings.

The cocky Bunny Prince tells her that he's keeping the feather; and if she's lucky, she'll grow another one. "I don't need luck" she answers "I am the Duchess of Duck!". As they speak, the Bunny Prince learns that the Duchess is on her way to Sillyland to watch the Snail Races. She invites him to join her at the races. He is delighted at both the opportunity and his new friendship, but now he suddenly wants to go home and paint. Inspired, he returns home and creates an abstract rainbow of colors, which he loves. He realizes that actually creating something is often easier than just thinking about creating it, especially when there is inspiration.

The Bunny Prince Meets the Dragon

To prove to himself that he is a real prince, the Bunny Prince decides that it is time to slay a dragon. He borrows his father's sword, and sets off to find a dragon. He enlists the help of his reluctant friend Fieldish the Fieldmouse. Fieldish would much rather lay in the barley fields, look up at the clouds and daydream. However, Fieldish agrees to help and they finally find the Dragon's cave.

But as the Dragon emerges from his cave, he is holding a teapot and sweetly asks "Has someone come for tea?"

It turns out that no one visits the good Dragon because they are afraid. The Bunny Prince and Fieldish end up having tea and making friends with the Dragon. When they are done, the Dragon offers the Bunny Prince the teapot as a gift and souvenir of the day. The Bunny Prince gives the Dragon his father's sword in return. When they get back home, the Bunny Prince will have to explain to the Bunny King why a teapot can be much more useful than a sword!

The Bunny Prince And The Strawberries

Waking up in the mood for strawberries, the Bunny Prince looks in vain for a bowlful. In the royal kitchen, his friend the Shiny Chef offers him a banana instead, but the Bunny Prince leaves in a huff. The dear Frog Gardener, whose entire garden is cultivated on lillypads in the rock pond, offers the Bunny Prince her single prize strawberry. But the Prince will not settle for less than a bowlful and he marches off dissatisfied.

Finally, as he sits under a tree sulking, the Bunny Prince realizes that he has not been very friendly or appreciative of his friends. From his state of remorse, he decides to go back and apologize to his friends for his thoughtless behavior. They of course forgive him. He then goes happily back out to the garden to gather his second choice, blueberries, and finds a large patch of strawberries which he overlooked before!

Volume 2

The Terrible Tuffy Turtle Twins

The Duchess of Duck, Fieldish the Fieldmouse and the Bunny Prince all go to the Snail Races together. They set their picnic basket down to hold their spot while they go get Sillysodas. When they return, two tough little turtle twins, Ruff Tuffy and Tuff Tuffy have claimed their picnic spot. The Duchess tries to reason with the turtles but they don't seem to respond. The Bunny Prince threatens to get tough, but the turtles snap at his nose. As the three friends are standing there trying to decide what to do, Mother Tuff Turtle arrives, scolding the turtle twins for not staying where she left them. Ruff and Tuff are dragged off by their tails, blaming each other as they disappear from sight. The Bunny Prince, the Duchess and Fieldish hold no grudge, and are left to think about the value of avoiding trouble whenever possible.

Lost in the Good Bad Jungle

While on an afternoon walk along the Path of Giant Flowers, the Bunny Prince, the Duchess of Duck and Fieldish the Fieldmouse find that the path is getting less and less clear, and the foliage more and more dense. Finally, they are in a small clearing, surrounded by thick brush, with no clear way out. Little harlequin-like Meanie Mice appear, and announce that the three companions are lost in the Good Bad Jungle.

The Meanie Mice have contradictory meanings about everything. What looks good is bad. What looks bad is good. Or is it really bad? They can't even agree with each other. As the confusion escalates, out of the bushes appears Just Fox. Just Fox suggests a simple approach to their predicament. "Just go" she says. Which way? "Just pick" she says. The key is to just take that first step, which they do. Heading back out into the thick brush, the way slowly begins to clear. Then as they look down, the Bunny Prince and friends find that the path has reappeared beneath their feet, and they are lost no more!

The Wig Pig Comes To Dinner

The Queen Bunny and the Bunny King notice that the Bunny Prince is in need of some formal training in proper manners. A special dinner is planned. The Bunny Prince invites his friends and the Queen and King invite the Wig Pig. The Wig Pig is the special pig who is in charge of teaching all the local youth about manners. He wears a wig to distinguish himself as more than just an ordinary pig.

Throughout dinner, the Wig Pig corrects everyone's manners. Although manners are being taught, the Bunny Prince and his pals aren't having much fun. At the end of dinner, the Bunny King thanks the Wig Pig for his teachings. As the Wig Pig bows his head in acknowledgment, his straw wig slips off his head and falls directly into his soup! Everyone wants to laugh, but no one dares. Finally, the Wig Pig is the first at the table to laugh. He shows that he can laugh at himself. And the dinner turns out to be a memorable success.

Volume 3

The Duchess of Duck Goes Fishing

The Duchess of Duck invites the Bunny Prince on a fishing expedition, but the Bunny Prince is surprised to find out that he will not be needing a fishing pole, and that they are heading deep into the forest where there are no streams or ponds. He finds out that they will be "fishing for fairies."

The Bunny Prince starts out highly skeptical, but his friend the Duchess actually manages to summon a real fairy by using a simple but quite secret process. The Duchess then gives her wish to the amazed Bunny Prince, who cleverly makes his own wish to know the secret of summoning fairies. His wish is granted and the Bunny Prince leaves the Fairy Forest having learned that even things which he knows to be quite impossible can sometimes become quite real.

The Hog Dog Loses His Lunch

The somewhat selfishly food-oriented Hog Dog goes on a secret picnic, inviting no one, so that he won't have to share his large back-pack filled with yummy foods. His plans change however, when he discovers that although his pack is stuffed full of picnic goods, he has accidentally forgotten the food itself. Fortunately for the Hog Dog, his friends the Bunny Prince and Fieldish the Fieldmouse unexpectedly arrive on the scene and graciously offer to share their own picnic lunch with the Hog Dog. This provides the Hog Dog not only with lunch, but with a valuable lesson in the art of simple generosity.

The Shiny Shef Hurts Her Own Feelings

The castle's respected Shiny Chef, while preparing dessert for a big and special dinner that night, realizes that she needs to borrow some chocolate from the Hat Cat, who lives nearby.

She arrives at the Hat Cat's cottage, but doesn't realize that the Hat Cat is not home. Looking in a window from outside, she mistakes an empty hat on the back of a chair for the Hat Cat. She begins calling for the Hat Cat's attention, which of course she does not receive. Taking it all very personally, she eventually falls apart emotionally because she thinks that her good friend is ignoring her pleas for assistance.

Suddenly, and much to her surprise, the Hat Cat shows up, just in time to assure her that all is well and that he would be pleased to loan her some fresh chocolate. On the way back home, the Shiny Chef has plenty of time to contemplate how she brought herself to tears over a false assumption.
